He came in middle 2001 to Guatemala looking for waves and he found plenty of them. Dack has traveled the globe in search for surf for more than 25 years. And he started the biz because it was very hard to get into the airplanes with boards. But the most important issue was to deal with the people and places before to get the surf.
As for me, I started surfing in Guatemala in 1,982 and I began bodysurfing on the top of a cooler. We did not have boards at the time and I was a competitive swimmer since I was 5 years old. Water was for me like breathing and part of my life.
Company Profile
In 1,984 there were lees than 10 surfers in the whole country. I had the chance to meet later to the pioneers: Mr. Jaime Garcia, Mario Estevez, Carlos Corado, Carlos Villanova and Alvaro Cruz. They were life guards and great surfers in Guatemala. I had the chance to spend more time whit Jaime Garcia he taught all I know about surfing and I thank him forever for the lifestyle he gave me. Later I started MAYA EXTREME SURF SCHOOL in May 19 of 2001 because there were no surfers in the city.
After that I heard about Mr. Dack Holland got her to open Guatemala as a Surf Destiny and I contacted him immediately to help him in all the local needs that he might needed. Right away he trusted in me and started to send people. It’s safe to say that SURF EXPRESS was the first surf travel agency in the world that started to push Guatemala.
