by SurfinGuatemala.comHey Pedro,
I'll write the comments below....
So having only surfed in Mexico and Costa Rica I wasn't sure about Guatemala, but I found Maya Extreme's web site and emailed with Pedro a bit. I only had one day to surf on this trip, so Pedro was going to drive me out to the beach, and then back to the city at the end of the day. He told me he'd meet me outside my hotel at five in the morning and we'd go to the coast from there.
Pedro picked me up right at five and we drove over to his warehouse to pick up a few boards. I had left my boards at home because I didn't want to deal with the airlines, and Pedro had promised me he had a good quiver. Well he did, and it took me a bit to figure out which boards I wanted to take out. He had a bunch of good fiberglass and epoxy boards, in every length and shape you could want. From there we drove out to the coast in his Land Rover- you see a lot of beautiful country and volcanoes on the way, and I was really interested to see what the surf had in store.
We arrived to an empty black sand beach with glassy conditions and 6'-8' surf waiting for us- I couldn't believe no one else was out, or even around for that matter. The water was super warm and we surfed all morning. We took a break and went back out because the wind hadn't picked up yet which was sweet.
The whole time Pedro was a great host, and I felt super safe traveling around. It felt like traveling in Mex, and I would totally recommend it if you want empty waves in a really cool country.
Big thanks to Pedro, who even bought me dinner at the end of the day because I left my money at the hotel by accident.

Maya Extreme was the best host and guide for our trip to Guatemala. The country is absolutely beautiful, the waves were shockingly incredible and it was the best trip I have been on yet!

I was a bit hesitant about Guatemala as I had never known of any surf there. The surf coast line has many different types of breaks that can accommodate all surfing levels. The country offered us incredible surf with no crowds and a few great historic destinations as well. With the beaches only 1-2 hours from the airport it makes it very easy on your travels.
If you plan on going to Guatemala to surf, Pedro Pablo will offer you the safest and most accommodating experience possible. My first trip with Pedro was one of my best surfing experiences of my life! Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.

Pedro,
Just wanted to write and say thank you very much for providing excellent service
on our recent surf trip to Guatemala. Our trip was 1000% more than we expected. I
still can't believe how great the waves are.. and with nobody else in the water i
really couldn't ask for much more. I really hope Guatemala will stay exactly the
way it is right now however, with the services that maya extreme provides, it is
only a matter of time untill we see many more heads in the water. I'm a well
traveled surfer and Guatemala is one place that I can't wait to go back and surf.
Thank you for making our trip so easy and effortless. The packages you provide
are exactly the way they should be... safe, affordable, and fun... lot's of fun!
Thanks again! See you soon.

Message: On May 10th myself and seven friends landed in Guatemala not knowing what to expect. With in an hour we knew this was going to be fun.
Pedro and his wife picked us up at the airport, we then stashed all our gear at his warehouse and headed out to shop for food and drink. With the help of Perdo\'s wife we were able to come away with enough food for an army for very little expense.
We then set off for the beach. After an short hour and a half drive we arrived at a boat dock and loaded into two boats for the 10 minute trip down a beautiful river to Perdro's house. We were met by Guillermo and his family along with 2 young ladies that would turn out to be the best cooks in the world.
The first 2 days the surf was huge and remained perfect for the entire 8 days we stayed. Pedro stayed with us 1 night and we got to watch his skills in the waves. Pedro arraigned for his staff to stay with us and make sure all our needs were met. Two of his crew, Mitch and Alex are excellent surfers as well. We took a trip into Antigua and most of the crew went to Tikal to see the Mayan Ruins witch Pedro arraigned all of.
I could go on forever and still not capture how much fun we had. I have traveled all over the world on business and this place is a hidden jewel with Pedro, his wife and crew being the best host you could ask for!
